American Payroll Association Survey Shows How A Company Can Save Time and Money

Filed under: Press Release, Human Resources — admin @ 10:01 am

In efforts to continue making payroll reporting and time management a pressing issue for companies that battle rising operating costs, Utah-based HourDoc.com releases information about how much your payroll system can cost you.

“It is staggering how much waste could be in the payroll processing system you are currently using,” said HourDoc President Dan Smith.  “Furthermore, by simply looking at the issue closer, it could help managers get a better handle on it, and even free them up to perform duties more closely related to making money in their company.”

HourDoc.com cites former published reports by the American Payroll Association that show the following:

The yearly cost of using “manual time keeping” (ie: paper timesheets and punch cards) in a company of 50 employees is a staggering $50,950.  If the company is comprised of 100 or more employees, that same opportunity cost of using manual time keeping skyrockets to $101,900 or even more.

In the category of “human error,” companies of 50 employees can waste $31,200 fixing mistakes caused by human error.  In companies of 100 or more employees?  That human error could cost $156,000 or more annually.

“Everyone–

every boss and every manager wants to save money,” says Smith.  “So if your company is already at peak performance in all other aspects, why not take a few hours and see if your company can also streamline the payroll process?  It is simple math–if you cannot create more employees, try and concentrate on creating more hours for your current employees to use!”

Now beginning its push into the international market, HourDoc is still making headlines.  Having been in business now for over four years, HourDoc continues to lead the way when it comes to an advanced hr payroll system that offers timeclock integration, advanced electronic scheduling and timesheets, automated overtime tracking, payroll reporting that is 100 percent Internet-based.

HourDoc.com is an easy-to-use, web-based time and labor tracking system that provides companies advanced online tools to monitor and manage their employees.  HourDoc.com’s scalable time management technology is specially designed to expand to meet the unique needs of growing businesses.

A proven and affordable software-as-a-service solution, HourDoc replaces tedious manual time entry and reporting processes by allowing employers to tap into real-time labor data on-demand so they can readily assess and manage work schedules, time and payroll reports, and staffing needs anytime or anywhere.  For further information about the company and these statistics, visit: www.hourdoc.com

Outsourcing “Employee Payroll Processing” - “On-line Payroll Processing” Southfield, MI

Filed under: Press Release, Human Resources — admin @ 10:28 am

Next to profitability, a business owner’s main concern is making payroll.  Accounting, tax work and mastering payroll processing software and keeping current on complex tax rules and regulations is very time consuming, leaving business owners less time to focus on the core of their business.  Markwei Boye’s payroll service does all the work involved in payroll processing so his clients can focus on operating a profitable business.

“I had lunch with Markwei Boye last week; he explained why his service was invaluable to business owners,” said Mark Maupin, a business associate and friend.  Markwei shared his top ten reasons to outsource payroll service:

•   Liability-

A payroll processing service absorbs the risk; if they make a mistake, they absorb the cost.
•   Taxes-IRS reports show that 1/3 of employers has been charged for tax-related payroll errors equating to billions of dollars in penalties;  a good payroll processing service keeps clients out of these situations.
•   Affordability-Consider the cost of computer equipment, software and extensive training required to process payroll internally, not to mention the processing time that can be spent on revenue-producing activities for the business.  A payroll processing service saves time and money.
•   Profitability-Remember why you went into business in the first place; it wasn’t so you could spend tedious hours processing payroll and generating timely reports to the IRS.  Outsource your payroll processing and get back to your business.
•   Time-Business owners have better things to do with their time; getting paychecks out on time and generating timely reports and tax deposits to the IRS is a positive reflection of one’s company; our payroll processing service guarantees accuracy and on-time filing of all reports.
•   Accuracy-Payroll accounting professionals will see to the accuracy of handling all aspects of payroll processing.  Even the simplest error can result in stiff penalties and unhappy employees.
•   Privacy-It can be embarrassing and detrimental to the morale of a company when confidential information is seen by the wrong eyes; confidentiality is easily maintained with our payroll processing service when employees use direct deposit.
•   Reporting-Keep records neat and concise with a wide array of standard, easy to read report generated by our integrated payroll processing service.
•   Flexibility-As business changes, so do payroll processing needs.  Don’t get bogged down with the nuts and bolts of personnel changes; leave that to the payroll accounting experts while you run your business.
•   Professionalism-Outsourcing payroll processing enhances a successful image of your business while showing employees that your company is professional and secure.

“Wow!  I had no idea how beneficial a payroll processing service could be!  The time and money saved by using a payroll processing service is far more that the amount spent on the fees paid to the payroll accounting professional,” Mark exclaimed.

Markwei Boye is a CPA and the CEO of Smart Business International, PLLC, specializing in income tax issues, financial planning and payroll processing services.  He has earned several degrees and holds multiple licenses, including an Enrolled Agent designation — a specialized license earned by individuals who have passed a rigorous examination administered by the IRS and has shown technical competency in all levels of federal taxation. With s secure, integrated, on-line payroll processing system, http://smartbusinesspllc.com/  services the entire United States with clients located in Warren, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; St. Paul, Minnesota; Little Rock, Arkansas; Jackson, Mississippi; Portland Oregon; Boston, Massachusetts; Charleston, West Virginia and neighboring cities.

How rumors Can Wreck the Workplace

Filed under: Human Resources — admin @ 10:32 am

Nicholas DiFonzo, author of The Watercooler Effect and Rumor Psychology will be the featured guest on Connect With Karen Online September 11, 1008 at 6 PM EST on http://www.BlogTalkRadio.com/

Karen-Ross

Exit polls indicate that certain voters in West Virginia were swayed by rumors that Barack Obama was a Muslim and his wife an atheist—despite repeated reports that these stories were false. Mothers across the country are still forwarding their kids an alarming email about a gang initiation ritual that was exposed as a hoax a decade ago.

Why are rumors so easy to believe and so tough to squelch?

In The Watercooler Effect, psychologist Nicholas DiFonzo explores the anatomy of rumors, and probes just what happens at the world’s “watercoolers.” Whether political, cultural, or domestic, rumors are part of our social capital, and a fundamental, if under appreciated, part of human experience. When rumors rip through a campaign—like the religious rumors dogging Obama or those about McCain fathering a black child—it forces a change in the conversation as we try to reconcile what we think we know with what we’ve now been told.

DiFonzo has published numerous articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries and technical reports pertaining to the topic of rumor. He has pursued practical applications of rumor theory including how harmful rumors may be most effectively refuted. DiFonzo has a Ph.D. in Social & Organizational Psychology and is currently Professor of Psychology at Rochester Institute of Technology.

According to DiFonzo, rumors exist because humans have an intrinsic need to make sense of the world. As social beings, when we’re stymied by ambiguity, vaguely threatened by something new, or alarmed by uncertainty, our response is to talk and try to tighten up the facts. Such tightening up often involves wild speculation—and so a rumor is born. This is our collective response to uncertainty.

Spreading rumors has a psychological basis as well. They allow us to bond as social beings (“Did you hear that manager X is getting fired?”) and give us a forum to vent our hostility (“I’m not surprised she got that job; from what I hear she’s sleeping with the boss!”).

Naturally, rumors proliferate wherever people interact: in the workplace, on the Web, within the tight networks of ethnic and religious communities, and, of course, at the dinner table among family and friends.

While rumors are about making sense of the unknown, gossip is slightly different. DiFonzo says, “Gossip is idle—and typically derogatory … it’s a juicy tidbit of information about someone. Gossip helps people bond with, amuse, know about, exclude, and aggress against one another … Rumor is a breadcrumb in an information famine; gossip is a tasty finger food during the cocktail hour.”

The Watercooler Effect ultimately shows that a common part of our everyday lives is, upon closer inspection, a complex and profound phenomenon with powerful real-world effects. It’s packed entertaining examples, yet it’s also a deeply revealing look at a fundamental human activity.

Connect With Karen features stimulating and fascinating conversation as Karen Ross interviews non-fiction authors. Regarded as a “favorite interviewer” by authors, Ross gets to the heart of the topic – quickly and entertainingly. She asks her guests the questions her listeners would ask if they could, and often asks questions no other interviewer thinks of. Immigration Solutions Introduces New Employer Compliance Practice

Filed under: Onboarding, Press Release, Human Resources, recruiting — admin @ 10:32 am

Long Beach, CA - Immigration Solutions, a leading US business immigration legal service provider and consulting firm, is pleased to announce its new package of Employer Compliance Solutions and Services for employers that hire foreign personnel in industries such as: Hospitality, Restaurant & Beverage, IT, and healthcare, amongst others.

With administrative enforcement efforts being increased and broadened in scope, and  Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) in fiscal year 2007 securing more than $30 million in criminal fines, restitutions, and civil judgments -  why wait until:

•   The government notifies your company that it is to produce all of its I-9 forms and related documents for audit …

•   Or, the government notifies your company that it is to produce all of its H-1B public access files and related documents for audit …

•   Or, your company receives a Social Security No-Match Letter,

“The trend toward increased scrutiny of immigration employment practices will likely continue in the foreseeable future,” said Leslie Davis, President & CEO of Immigration Solutions. “So for now, it’s imperative that employers place their attention on several important areas that require knowledge, training and compliance.”

As the workforce becomes more global in scope, employers are increasingly learning that it is essential to understand and effectively adhere to immigration compliance laws and regulations, specifically as it pertains to the following areas:

I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. This is the mechanism for employment verification compliance  for every worker that an employer hires.  If the documents are not presented within a particular period of time, the employee must be removed from the payroll (though it is permissible to suspend the worker rather than terminating the worker all together).  We work with our clients on how to fill out the I-9 form, how to perform re-verification of the I-9, how to maintain and comply with immigration regulations, and how to create a customized Compliance Program.

SSN No-Match Letters. A Social Security “no-match letter” is a
notice sent by the Social Security Administration (“SSA”) to employers and employees to inform them that the employee name or Social Security number listed on an employee’s W-2 does not match the SSA records.  Immigration Solutions works with the employer to walk them through the process of analyzing whether or not there has been false documentation presented, how to respond to the notice, or whether to retain or terminate the employee, etc.

E-Verify. E-Verify is an Internet-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees.  We educate our clients on the pros and cons of on-line checks for new hires and the use of new technologies and inform them of state requirements.

H-1B/LCA Compliance. We provide mangers with the tools to manage compliance with public access file retention and provide guidelines for reducing violations and lowering risks of penalties.

Pre-Merger & Acquisition Due Diligence. While a closing may be a cause for celebration at a company, it can also be the cause of a nightmare for a company since it can instantly render all completed I-9s for an acquired company invalid.  We work with our clients to analyze successor liability and responsibilities, evaluate past and current immigration casework for all employees, internal controls and historical risk factors.

Immigration Solutions works proactively with its clients to provide comprehensive assistance in developing and maintaining best practices necessary to assure compliance with USCIS, ICE, SSA and DOL regulations.

Employer compliance is becoming more complex and enforcement (investigations and audits) is increasing. In order to effectively deal with these issues and avoid the very severe consequences for non-compliance, employers must take the time to develop a strategy and be prepared in advance with an Immigration Compliance Program.
Immigration Solutions will customize such a program for their clients and will provide onsite or telephonic training, consulting, and document auditing in all of the areas mentioned above, as well as provide ongoing compliance updates.

Want your business to excel? Create a Culture of Leadership

Filed under: Press Release, Human Resources — admin @ 10:39 am

Recently SoundBoard Consulting Group held a two day Leadership Strategic Planning Retreat attended by approximately 25 business owners and leaders.  Jay Wolf of SoundBoard explained outright that studies have shown that the top companies – those that have outperformed benchmarks like the Dow five years running — always have one thing in common - a positive organizational climate.  Who is responsible for this?  It is the leader who sets the ideal organizational climate — the temperature in which everyone has the potential, tools and support to excel.

While it is theoretically possible that many people have the capacity to lead, becoming a leader is a little more complicated than simply wanting it. Above all, you want your organization to be one in which leadership can thrive. In order to create a culture of leadership, several other important factors such as leadership style, emotional intelligence and motivation all need to be considered along with the organizational climate.

Today, motivated, dynamic leaders have no shortage of tools they can use to assess their employees (and themselves) and create a climate in which leadership can flourish.  To learn more about the Leadership Development Program and tools offered by SoundBoard, contact Richard Magid at 973-334-6222 x 102 and/or visit: http://www.soundboardconsulting.com.

University Of Missouri Research Study Proves Incentive Awards Programs Yeild Massive ROI

Filed under: Press Release, Human Resources — admin @ 8:02 am

ROCKLIN, CA - A research study conducted by Srinath Gopalakrishna, Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Missouri - Columbia, found that an employee recognition awards program provided by The Business Group, Inc dramatically increases a company’s net profitability. The study was funded by The Incentive Research Foundation, an independent research company.

The study looked back on three years of data and used regression analysis to see how employees were affected by incentive awards programs. The study’s author looked backwards and found that the company would have lost money without the incentive program. It found that the program dramatically increased a company’s net profitability and cash flow with minimal risk and investment.

“The study just proved what we’ve known all along – that employees make the difference in a company’s success. Many companies think that more sales will automatically solve any and all problems they have, but don’t know exactly how to increase those sales. Even the most self-motivated employees are motivated by a recognition awards program, but the problem with most companies is that they don’t know how to implement one. That’s where we come in, said Bob Dawson, CEO of The Business Group, Inc (http://www.businessgroupinc.com/).

The study found that any money spent on an employee incentive program was worth the effort. The return on investment was 84% after the addition of investments in the case studied, while the expected return on investment without the program was found to be negative 92%.

The Business Group, Inc offers many different types of incentive awards programs. Customers can tailor programs using the company’s return of investment calculator to ensure they are spending their money as wisely as possible. The company also offers programs specialized for non-sales positions for companies that realize the value of improved customer service.

“The key ingredients for any incentive awards program are customers and employees. It’s as simple as that. With those two factors, we can tailor a program for our customers. Our customers and their employees want to know ‘what’s in it for me?’ This study helps us answer both of those questions. Our customers routinely achieve record high sales with more cash in their accounts, while their employees have an added incentive to convince customers to buy more and pay their bills on time. Our successful customers know that our program is a necessary investment in the financial health of their companies,” said Dawson.

High Turnover Causes Call Center Outsourcing, Organizations Need Help!

Filed under: Press Release, Human Resources — admin @ 8:07 am

Phoenix, Arizona - Global competition has brought increased interest in the need for US companies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Outsourcing has brought about unique issues in the service industries. One field of growing concern is the call center industry which has recently experienced the loss of over 250,000 jobs to cheaper overseas competitors like India. Although US organizations are not able to compete in terms of employee wages; they can consider one significant cost factor. Call center turnover is alarmingly high. Most estimates put turnover between 60 and 80% annually, which is about double when comparing it to the overall service industry.

Call center employee training is expensive considering it involves developing knowledge of complex systems and products. Turnover costs must also consider other factors such as lost productivity and increased strain on remaining workers, which leads to employee burnout and even more turnover.

Dr. Michael Shaw, co-founder and President of SilkWeb Consulting & Development, recently conducted a study on turnover in call centers and discovered a significant relationship between turnover and employee-organizational value alignment. As employee perceptions that the organization’

s values aligned with their own increased, employee commitment also increased. Commitment is widely considered a highly accurate measure of employee turnover.

SilkWeb Consulting & Development will help your organization understand its turnover problems and develop innovative ways of improving the problem through its business consulting services.
